3BUTE supplies fire-retardant textiles for the professional market: theatre, film, events, trade fairs and permanent interiors. All fabrics in this range comply with fire safety standards, but there is an important distinction between the two types.
Flame-retardant treated — the fire-resistant property is applied via a post-production treatment. This applies to cotton fabrics such as Deco Molton, Stage Molton, cheesecloth and Gobelin tulle. The treatment is durable, but its effectiveness diminishes with washing or exposure to rain.
Permanently fire-retardant (IFR) — the fire-retardant property is inherent in the fibre itself. Fabrics such as Dimout, Molton CS, Medium Gloss Satin, Metallic Carré Tulle and Voile CS retain their fire safety properties permanently, regardless of use or washing.
The range includes a wide selection of types and weights: from light, translucent Voile CS (45 g/m²) to the heavy Stage Molton (300 g/m²), and from matt cotton weaves to fabrics with a sheen.
